Book Bank Section & Its Collection
There are a total of
25000 books in the Book Bank Section of the Allama I.I.Kazi Central
Library up to the preparation of this guide. These, however, include
multiple copies of titles. One copy of each title is reserved in the
Book Bank Reference Section, so that one copy is always available to a
reader for reference purpose. The Book Bank collection is completely
computerized in this section.
The Book
Bank, which is on open excess, gives special facilities to the
student. A Student is required to deposit a security of Rs.325/- for
the membership of all sections of the Library and Rs.300/- are
refundable at the termination of a student’s course of study. However,
for the borrowing of a book, a student is required to pay a rental fee
of 5% of each book borrowed, this amount is non-refundable and the
student can retain the book for an academic session. Three copies of
each title are put aside reference purposes.
The Book
Bank Scheme was first started in 1972 by the Government of Pakistan
under the aegis of National Book Foundation for all academic
libraries. It reprints those textbooks, which are in great demand and
multiple copies of academic libraries are made by the Foundation.
